THE OLD MAN S COURTSHIP.
There was an old man came over the sea,
M', m', m', and I won't have him, Came over the sea a-courting- of me.
With his old beard and you may shave him.
My mother she told me to give him a chair. I gave him a chair and he called me his dear.
My father he told me to give him a stool. I gave him a stool and he sat like a fool.
My mother she told me to give him some bread. I gave him some bread and he nodded his head.
My father he told me to give him some meat. I gave him some meat, Lord! how he did eat.
